On April 13th, all international students of the school took a bus to Zhangwu Desert Control School to participate in the "Learn to Understand China in Liaoning" social practice activity led by Liaoning Technical University, jointly organized by Liaoning Technical University, Shenyang Normal University, Shenyang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and China Medical University, commissioned by the International Exchange and Cooperation Office of the Provincial Department of Education. The theme was "Reading China- Desert Control Inspection and World Youth Academic Exchange". They learned the spirit of generations of sand control people who are determined, never retreat, unknown, and willing to contribute, and practiced the concept of President Xi Jinping “green mountains and clear waters are like mountains of gold and silver”.
International students watched the 60 minutes documentary on desertification control in Zhangwu - "The Original Heart of the Desert", and truly experienced the spirit of desertification control; Subsequently, I climbed onto the forest watchtower and gazed into the vast pine forest, feeling the arduous and courageous efforts of the sand control people, who were advancing and retreating. The international students also visited the Liaoning Provincial Institute of Sandland Governance and Utilization, visited Hou Gui, the recipient of the 9th Liaoning Provincial Moral Model Nomination Award, and listened to his 20-year experience in desertification control. Finally, the overseas students planted trees in the south of Horqin Sandy Land. This activity made the overseas students deeply realize that in the face of the harsh ecological environment, the brave and tenacious desertification control people stepped forward, fought against the sandstorm generation after generation, declared war on the desert, built a green barrier in the south of Horqin Sandy Land with youth and blood, and cultivated the spirit of "unswerving, never shrinking, unknown, willing to contribute" in the sand control of Zhangwu.
