The Success of Academician Hywel R. Thomas Workstation Symposium in Liaoning Technical University
On the morning of October 18, the symposium of Academician Hywer R. Thomas at Liaoning Technical University was successfully held in the International Conference Center of our university.
On behalf of all the teachers and students, Professor Rong Desheng, Vice Chancellor of Liaoning Technical University, extended a warm welcome to Academician Thomas team of Swansea University. It is clear that our university will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Swansea University in the UK by relying on academician workstation, and carry out in-depth scientific research in the field of carbon neutrality of underground energy extraction, so as to help China achieve the goal of carbon neutrality of energy extraction.
Academician Thomas delivered a speech on behalf of Swansea University. First of all, he expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and firm support of our university. He pointed out that this symposium is an important meeting in an important period of academic cooperation between the two sides, The establishment of the academician workstation represents the spirit of cooperation that transcends national boundaries, where scholars from all over the world exchange ideas, share knowledge, and jointly address various challenges. Liaoning Technical University has a long history and broad prospects. Swansea University attaches great importance to the cooperation with our university. The two universities will continue to find meeting points and work together for common development.
Professor Xiao Xiaochun, Dean of School of Mechanics and Engineering, made a wonderful report on Progress of the Construction of Thomas Academician Workstation, Vice Dean Sun Weiji on Coal Mine Gas Disaster Prevention and Unconventional Gas Extraction, and Associate Professor Zhang Huabin on Research Progress of Salt Cave Gas Storage. International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Institute of Science and Technology, School of Mining, School of Civil Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering and other relevant leaders attended the symposium.
