On the morning of October 13, Professor Sunil Maharaj, Dean of the School of Engineering, Architecture, Environment and Information, University of Pretoria, South Africa, visited our university.
Vice President Mao Jun expressed sincere thanks to the University of Pretoria for its support for international education. He stressed that the inter university cooperation between our university and the University of Pretoria has been for a long time. In the past 18 years, the two sides have made fruitful achievements in personnel training, scientific research, scholar exchanges and other fields. In the future, the two sides will strive to expand the field of scientific research cooperation, expand the scale of exchanges between teachers and students, share high-quality educational resources, and push the scientific research work of the two schools to a new height.
Professor Sunil Maharaj delivered a speech on behalf of the University of Pretoria at the welcome ceremony. He pointed out that the current era is the era of education internationalization. On the basis of good cooperation between the two universities, both sides need to work hard to promote scientific development and educational progress. The University of Pretoria attaches great importance to cooperation opportunities with the University. The two universities will find convergence points in the fields of mining, communication and electronic engineering, and work together for mutual improvement.
Located in Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa, the University of Pretoria was initially established in 1908 and became an independent university on October 10, 1930. So far, the University of Pretoria has become the largest university in South Africa. At present, more than 26,000 students study in 139 departments of 11 colleges of the University, including about 7000 postgraduates.
