At 3p.m. on October 20th, over 60 students from Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Yemen and other countries gather in classroom 409 of Boya building to participate in a paper cutting activity where they experience the charm of Chinese paper cutting art. The intangible cultural heritage expert He Hongyue explained to the students the history, cutting methods and skills of the paper cutting art and taught them how to practically cut flowers, birds, some other animals and people. She also shared with them the origin and characteristics of the flower “Double Happiness”.
During the course of the activity, most of the overseas students were deeply amazed by the charm of the Chinses traditional paper cutting art. In astonishment, they quickly learned the folding methods, picked up their scissors and begun learning the cutting skills carefully. Although it was their first time learning the Chinese traditional paper cutting art, the astonished and enthusiastic students produced many surprising and inspiring works.
