On the morning of Mary 31st, the office of international exchange and cooperation organized foreign teachers and students to go to He xi town central primary school of the Qing Hemen district in Fu Xin city to have an exchange. The theme of the activity was “Liao Ning Technical University International Day”—foreign teachers teaching at primary school classroom. More than 10 countries of teachers, students from the America, Russia, Korea, Pakistan, Vietnam, Mongolia, South Africa, Congo(Burundi), Burundi celebrated the International Children’ Day together.
First the activity kicked off with an initiative called “I took an English lesson for my children.” The six teachers and students’ representatives were in-deep classroom, they taught the children to study English words and read long sentences through the popular and easy-to-understand pictures and body languages, practice speaking with children through the simulation scenarios dialogue way of HELLO, HOW ARE YOU. In the interaction between teachers and students, they learned to write Chinese characters, did with the hand-origami, played Chinese game, played Latin dance , played basketball with pupils together, it was filled with deep affection and laugher inside and outside the classroom during a short period of 2 hours. The second part of the activity “Hymn dedicated to international friends” would bring the whole activity to a climax. The teachers and students of the He Xi town center primary school organized performances spontaneously, such as the song “Farewell”, “Let the world full of love”, the poetry recitation “Young Chinese speaking ”, the children said that they thanked to the international friends for caring and loving them. Finally, the foreign teachers and students also donated the basketball, football, badminton and other sports equipment for children.
The education and growth of the pupils in school age would be often ignored and forgot for remote rural areas away from the city. They might have never seen a “foreigner” and no chance to have a pure English class in their life. We saw a stronger thirst for knowledge than the urban children from their eyes. For the teachers and students who lived under the glowing neon lights, they might have never been so closed to understand the current situation of the rural areas in China, and face to face with the left-behind children in rural areas, but would not have such a psychological shock and baptism. As the foreign teachers Christine said: we did a little, but for the children it would be the happiest festival and the most valuable asset in their life.
