At 9:00 on May 14, the president Wang Jiren met Sunil Maharaj (Chinese name: Su Nier. Maha Laji)who is the director of the information and engineering from University of Pretoria in South Africa warmly at the conference room of the administrative building in Hu Ludao campus. The municipal committee, the executive vice mayor Fan Limin,  the dean of the college of electronics and information engineering Prof. Sun Jinguang, the dean  of the college of electrical and engineering Prof. Guo Fengyi, the dean of the college of software Prof. Liu Wanjun, the dean of the college of electronic business research institute Prof. Wang Wen and other college leaders attended. The talks were chaired by Prof. Xu Ping, the director of the office of international exchange and cooperation.
The municipal committee, the executive vice mayor of Xing Cheng city Fan Limin made a speech on behalf of the municipal committee, the executive of Xing Cheng city after exchanging greetings each other and introducing their respective university. First of all, he expressed warm welcome to Prof. Sunil from afar and introduced the situation of Xing Cheng city from many aspects such as historical heritage, cultural deposits, economic and social development, etc, and wished the exchanges and cooperation between the University of Pretoria and Liao Ning Technical University to bear fruit again, at the same time expressed the hope that Xing Cheng city and Pretoria would become the sister city.
In his speech, Prof. Sunil first thanked the university for inviting him to give lectures and visits. The exchange and cooperation between the Pretoria university of South Africa and Liao Ning Technical University began in 2000, there were more than 20 students and teachers to come to the South Africa to study and engage in advanced studies. He hoped that it further promoted the talent cultivation and scientific research of two university and promoted the exchange and cooperation between the Pretoria and Xing Cheng city.
The president Prof. Wang Jiren emphasized in his concluding remarks that China and South Africa are the important members of the BRIC countries. In December 2015, General Secretary Xi Jinping met with South African President Zuma at the Second Summit of China-Africa Cooperation Forum. China and South Africa signed the commercial agreement of 94 billion Rand. In the context of the friendly diplomatic relations between China and Africa, cooperation in education between the two countries is in the ascendant. Liao Ning Technical University should continue to learn from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in progress of constructing world class universities and first-class subject. The cooperation and friendship between the two sides had a long history and solid foundation, the next step of cooperation and exchanges should be high-level talent cultivation and joint scientific research as core, concentrated together to develop.
During his visit to our university, Prof. Sunil gave a lecture entitled “Wireless Communication Research Opportunities and Collaborative Spectral Opportunity Forecasting for Cognitive Radio” for the teachers and students of the college of electronics and information engineering, highlighted the research on broadband wireless communication, the spectrum sensing, the latest research achievement of cognitive radio technology of the University of Pretoria in South Africa and was in-depth exchanges with teachers and students.
